A TV programme for pets on Smash TV: Madagascar 'Id-Dinja tal-Annimali'

Madagascar ‘Id-Dinja tal-Annimali’ is a programme dedicated to animals especially to cats and dogs. The programme is aired on ‘Smash TV’ every Wednesday from 19:30hrs to 20:30hrs, with a repeat on Saturday between 18:00hrs and 19:00hrs.

Madagascar is a television programme which deals with animal health, grooming, food nutrition and most of all for the care and well being one should give to pets held at our homes. The aim of the programme is to create more awareness about animals, especially animal sanctuaries in Malta and Gozo.

The programme will be discussing very interesting topics related to various subjects about animals prepared by experts in the field. In fact one of the sections is specifically dedicated to pet nutrition. An expert in the field will give detailed information about the best food nutrition one should give to his or her pet. It is very important to those persons who own a pet to know about the contents of the food one can buy in sachets, tins and bags and also fresh food prepared at home.

Another interesting topic is grooming. It is well known that grooming and hygiene are very important elements both for the pet or animals and even for members of the family who live in the same household as the pet. A professional groomer will speak about this topic in more detail. Members from pet organizations in Malta and Gozo will also speak about their organization and events held throughout the year. Various guests will be present together with different breeds of dogs and cats and these include amongst others; Matthew Wismayer, Melosaul Balzan, Rodianne Caligari, Maryrose Spiteri, Paula Falzon and Malvina Cecarelli

As stated in the introduction we are aiming to give the opportunity to all animal sanctuaries in Malta and Gozo to give out information about their sanctuaries, events, helpers and all that they cater for so that people can get to know their needs and how they can offer their help in some way or another. A vet will be one of the resident speakers where s/he will speak about the medical aspect regarding to animals.

There will also be features about operations and visits at the vet, which will surely be very interesting to the viewer. International Cat and Dog Shows held on the island will be given a lot of importance since people who never visited a cat or a dog show will have the opportunity to watch part of these shows on television. Other guests who have a relation or work with pets like foreign breeders and also cat show judges will be invited on the programme from time to time, so that viewers get to know them and learn through their experiences.

The schedule for the programme starts in January and ends in June with each programme having a duration of one hour. Viewers can intervene by asking questions to the guests through SMS and e-mail.
